Dr Guillaume Grisel – Partner at Schellenberg Wittmer.

Dr. Guillaume Grisel is a Partner at the leading Swiss business law firm Schellenberg Wittmer, where he deals with international trust & estate, tax, immigration, banking and art law.
He advises UHWNI’s, expats, artists and sportsmen and art collectors, but also trust companies and family offices. Guillaume regularly acts as foundation board member and protector of trusts. 
He is Vice-Chair of the Swiss & Liechtenstein STEP Federation. He used to be Chair of STEP Lausanne and of BSCC Lausanne for several years. 
Guillaume holds a Ph.D in international law and a LL.M from Cambridge University. He regularly lectures at seminars and conferences and published numerous articles and books. In particular, he wrote the only comprehensive textbook on trusts in Switzerland (“Le trust en Suisse”, Zurich 2020).
   
DESCRIPTION         
Major moves of UHNWIs are expected in 2025 and Switzerland is among the first choices for many of them. So this is a good time to take an overview not only of the conditions for obtaining Swiss residency, but also of the tax regimes (the forfait, of course, but also some lesser-known optimization methods), the smart pre-immigration planning reflexes, the restrictions on acquisition of real estate (the famous Lex Koller) and some keys to successful estate planning for newcomers (matrimonial, incapacity and testamentary).
