The Description:

Russia's military action in Ukraine has prompted many Western countries to issue sanctions against the Russian Federation and its nationals and residents.Some sanctions directly affect professional advisors as well as trust and corporate service providers and their clients

Since our last webinar on 19 May 2022, a 6th round of sanctions was meted out by the European Union under Regulation 2022/879 of 3 June 2022. These new sanctions provided some clarifications in relation to trusts with Russian settlors and beneficiaries and extended the range of prohibited services if the recipient is a Russian entity.

The new Webinar will discuss the scope of the new sanctions and the practical consequences for advisors and service providers.A current initiative to seize the assets of Russian oligarchs (as opposed to just freezing them) as laid out by the White House and US Department of Justice will also be discussed.  Similar efforts are underway in the EU.  These initiatives could also implicate any advisors who hold assets for high net worth Russians.
